Bead Soup Blog Party 3rd Reveal

Soup's on for the third reveal of the Bead Soup Blog Party!! I want to start out by thanking our leader, Lori Anderson of Pretty Things, who came up the this amazing party - you can read more about it here. This year, there are 541 participants - 200 jewelry designers are in this reveal!!

My partner is the very talented, Christine Hansen of Intuitive Sparks. She sent me the most amazing soup with a gorgeous lampwork pendant and spacers that she made along with many beautiful beads to complement them. It was so fun playing with all of these ingredients - thanks, Chris!!

I love the vibrant blue of the lampwork focal and spacers, so I decided to make a necklace that really let them stand out and shine.

I made a bail so the focal could hang down a bit from the chain and put it on a headpin with silver wavy discs at each end. I used the very cool Tierra Cast toggle clasp in my soup and four of the lovely lampwork spacers.

I made earrings with the remaining two blue spacers. I wrapped the beads with bead caps and Swarovski bicones, then added a short chain and some of the detailed base metal spacers for a bit of movement.

I made these earrings with two of the purplish Chinese rondelles - when the light catches these beads, they are so beautiful! I made a bail with a small piece of wire, hammered the ends and hung them from ear wires with a flat coil that I'd just received from Auntie's Beads.

I made another pair of earrings using the Hematite rondelles. I cut different lengths of headpins and hung them from a silver circle in my stash.

The last pair of earrings I made are with two of the beautiful green lampwork glass beads. I added copper spacers, then I took Vintaj filigree diamonds, folded them in half and used my sons Dremel to make a small hole in the center of the filigree for the headpins.

Next up is the bracelet. I used a lampwork bead from Jane Perala Designs as the focal because it went so well with the beads in my soup. I wrapped the blue Czech bead with a pink Druzy and the purplish Chinese crystal with a fuschia bead with gold dots - it's from a strand that I had bought at Allegory Gallery last summer. I used some of the thrifted chain and pewter spacers and connected it together with square wire jump rings.

For the next necklace, I wrapped the deep plum Czech faceted beads with brass bead caps and connected them with twisted brass jump rings.

The focal has black faceted crystals in the center that just sparkle. I bought it at a small bead store in Dayton (for $1 !!) - I knew it would work perfectly with the plum and green!

I hung different lengths of chain from the brass flower and added flowers and leaves for movement. The purple flowers and leaves are from my first BSBP and I bought the pale turquoise flowers at my local bead store, Gahanna Bead Studio. I had the flower toggle in my stash and wove the deep green recycled sari silk through brass chain.

Lastly, I made this necklace with strawberry quartz, Hematite rondelles, base metal spacers and Swarovski bicones. I added them to black leather lace with a simple lobster claw toggle.

I had the best time creating with my soup and getting to know my partner! I hope you head over to Christine Hansen's blog to see what loveliness she created with her soup!

Thank you for stopping by!! I will definitely get to each blog on the list to drool over each design - life often gets in the way of beautiful jewelry!! Thanks for understanding!  :)

Take some time to check out all of the fabulous jewelry designers - here's the link to the list of all of the blog partier's of the 3rd Reveal!!

ZnetShows Design Reveal

A small group of us were recently asked to design some jewelry for ZnetShows for the upcoming Tucson Gem & Jewelry Show. They sent out samples from their new seal glass line, plus crystal beads and metal components. Everyone's beautiful jewelry pieces are up on Znet's Facebook page and now we're waiting to see whose pieces will be chosen to go to the Big Show!

I want to say Thank You to Bill Zhang of Znet for giving me this opportunity!! I was having a hard time getting back to the bead table and this was the perfect incentive - I really enjoyed doing this!!

I received a variety of seafoam, peridot and turquoise sea glass beads - so many pretty colors to work with!! I went to work immediately, since we only had about a week to get our designs photographed and posted on our blogs.

Please take some time to visit all of the jewelry designers blogs and see what they made. The designs are all unique and absolutely beautiful!! This will be a tough decision for the Znet team!

                                                                 GOOD LUCK to everyone involved!!

                             the Earrings

I made these 2 sets with a vintage chandelier crystal and my grandmothers pearls - these will be my interchangeable earrings!

My Bead Table Blog Hop

The lovely, Lisa Lodge, of A Grateful Artist, (Pine Ridge Treasures) decided to have a Bead Table Blog Hop back in July which sounded like fun, so I decided to join in! Here's a picture of the amazing stash of beads Lisa sent me.

I must admit, that, although I love Christmas - and I do mean LOVE - the Christmas colors scared me a wee bit. But that's what this blog hop is supposed to be - challenging!! Each participant received a stash of miscellaneous beads from Lisa's work table and we are to add our own beads from our work table. Sounds easy enough! So I let my beads sit on my table and breathe for awhile.

I've always wanted to work with the coral bits before and now was my chance! I remembered I had a turquoise star, so I just started beads adding around it. I used coral ovals, a freshwater pearl, silver cornerless cubes, Swarovski bicones and 2 baby vintage pearls and, of course, it has to have a lobster claw!

For my next bracelet, I had to use the pretty orange flowers - I wanted them to stand out, so I only added a piece of lime green silk cord.

I love the orange flower and had some green bead leftovers the Bead Soup Blog Party and thought they would went together perfectly! I used some brown seed beads that I always have on my table and a piece of brown ribbon.

I wanted to use the pretty flower beads, so I make a simple pair of earrings with some more of my lime green silk.

I made a pair of Christmas earrings with a dark green bead, those cool shattered-looking red glass beads, and bubbly white beads.

I want to thank Lisa for hosting this blog hop, I really enjoyed working on these pieces!!

Now  grab a cup of coffee/tea and enjoy rest of the participants in My Bead Table Blog Hop

Bead Soup Blog Party, 3rd Reveal

Today's the day - the Bead Soup Blog Parties third and final reveal! Even though I had months to prepare for this day, it snuck up on me!

I'll start by saying thank you to our fearless leader, Lori Anderson of Pretty Things! This party gets bigger and bigger by the second and she seems to handle it so effortlessly, always with a smile and a piece of pie.

My lovely partner, Jean Peter of Eclectic Avenue, sent me so many pretty beads that I thought (I will misquote Sally Field) 'she knows me, she really knows me'!! So many beads and all the colors I love!

I wanted to go with a Floral Fantasy theme and stuck to it except for two of the pieces. I also wanted to use up as many of the beads that Jean sent me, as I could - so I only added a few of my findings to the pieces.

First, I made a pair of earrings with Vintaj magnolia bead caps - I love turquoise and copper together.

The bracelets  ..................................

I love the big purple "gumballs", so I started with that and just kept adding to make this bracelet. I added bead caps, a couple of green flower beads left over from my last bead soup and the clasp.

The next bracelet I made uses most of the purple beads, the flower charms and my own clasp.

The third bracelet, I used the gorgeous lampwork bead, the lovely blue and green beads, plus a few of my bead caps and a lobsta claw.

I love the colors in the lampwork bead

The necklaces .....................

In this necklace, I used the pretty flower pendant and one of the toggles Jean sent me. I used the green thread Jean sent me and pearl knotted the purple beads and used bits of ribbon in my soup - I added my own chain and oval rings.

The second necklace I call "Key to My Castle" because it has all the colors I use in my home - the walls are all shades of yellows, blues and greens, and I use many, many turquoise accents! I used my new Color Me This patina in turquoise on the key - I'll be using that color a lot!!

All of my pieces together ........................

I really enjoyed working on these pieces, but I still have many left-overs and will try to use them up soon!

Now that I'm done, I will, regretfully admit that I just started on my pieces on Wed because I couldn't even come up with half a design!! I (insanely) think I do better under pressure, but the 25th just snuck up on me - it's September next week - where did the summer go!!! I will never wait again - a full body massage sounds fantastic right now ........

Now, it's time to continue hopping - grab a cup of coffee or tea, sit back and enjoy all of the fabulous designers and their designs!!

More Jewelry

I'm making a quick stop by my blog - between adventures with my boys, taking them to various classes and making jewelry for my sisters upcoming wedding (less than 2 week away!!) - to post some recent pieces I've made.

Back to Jewelry.......

I not quite sure why I haven't felt like making jewelry for awhile - some people talk of their muse - I'm not sure if it's that or just plain laziness! I think I just needed a break from over-scheduling and wanted to spend more time with my 4 boys!!!!

Here a few of my recent pieces...........................

                                                                                 Turquoise Howlite

Copper with vintage pearls & Swarovski

Both bracelets are made with a quartz slice, Botswana agate & chrysocolla - I even made one for myself!
